Cigar
A cigar consists of dried, bundled tobacco leaves that are fermented and then tightly rolled into a cylinder like shape and then smoked for personal consumption. Principle agricultors of cigar tobacco are located in Central and South America, the Caribbean, West Africa, United States and Southeast Asia. Christopher Columbus received credit for having introduced cigars from the Caribbean to Europe.
CIGAR BRANDS AND MANUFACTURERS
There are literally hundreds of cigar brands and manufacturers located worldwide. However, only a select handful boasts global recognition. Such cigar brands include Rocky Patel, Gurkha, Ashton, Romeo y Julietta, Montecristo, and Cohiba. Gotham Cigars proudly partners with some of most renowned cigar manufacturers such as Altadis, General Cigars, Davidoff, and Camacho.
CIGAR SMOKING
Cigar smoking in public has increasingly become more difficult as local and state regulators seek to limit when and where a consumer is able to indulge in such a product. All sorts of venues from nightclubs to restaurants and even cigar lounges are impacted by new legislative measures that aim to ban or limit cigar smoking. The best way to avoid or reduce such measure would be to write to your local/state congressmen and senators and express your discontent.
CIGAR AFICIONADO
To become a true Cigar Aficionado, you must know about various wrappers, seeds, and the process of creating a cigar. A Cigar Aficionado in the world of tobacco would be the equivalent of a sommelier for wine consumers. These are expert individuals that have studied the grounds/soils from which tobacco leaves come from, the process of assembling a quality product and the history of their origins. Then, the Cigar Aficionado must also sample each cigar and analyze their flavors. This is not a simple task. Qualifying someone to become a Cigar Aficionado is a process that can take years before accomplishing such a title.
