Normally, cigar brands have a tagline that defines the idea behind the blend. This particular blend is based on “a deeper understanding”. The concept is that 40% of your happiness comes from your mindset and attitude. Through Project 40, Alec Bradley unveils why cigars have a positive impact on the mind and body. The result is a cigar line that comforts you, makes you feel rewarded, and in control of your happiness.
Project 40 Blend
Project 40 features all Nicaraguan fillers and wrapper with a Cuban-seed Brazilian binder. In the beginning, Project 40 was a single blend with four vitolas.
Shortly after the release in May 2019, Alec Bradley Project 40 Toro got a 93 CA rating accompanied by the following tasting notes,"The draw of this rustic-looking cigar is effortless, offering floral and nutty smoke with pronounced notes of baking spices, chocolate and walnut. Touches of tropical fruit also come through. Balanced and elegant."
After a year in the market, Alec Bradley released a Maduro version of the same blend draped in a Mexican San Andres leaf. It’s a flavourful offing displaying rich notes of cocoa, earth, baking spice, dried fruit, cedar, and white pepper. Project 40 Maduro began shipping in November 2020.
Just this year, Project 40 got a new addition, the 07.70 Gargantuan. Up until the Gargantuan, the original Project 40 and Project 40 Maduro came in four vitolas. But now, with the Gargantuan, we have five vitolas.
The Gargantuan is a massive 7 inch 70 ring gauge cigar added to both the original and Maduro lines. It comes in response to the growing cigar trend of thicker cigars. The Gargantuan began shipping in August 2022.
Project 40 is a well thought-out project, fairly priced, and satisfying. The entire line is rolled at J. Fuego Cigar Co. in Nicaragua and comes in five vitolas: 05.50 (Robusto), 06.52 (Toro), 07.52 (Toro Grande), 06.60 (Gordo), and 07.70 (Gargantuan).
