Acid Kuba Kuba Maduro

When I smoke it is as a treat to usher in my weekend. After a long week it’s nice to have that little ritual to let go of all the work stress and prepare myself for whatever adventures may happen. Usually I take my chosen cigar to a local park that offers an ocean view, but this week had been a particularly stressful one and I needed the hustle and bustle of my favorite bar to help me unwind.

My favorite bartender was at the ready and my friends were there to keep me company as we sat outside at The Corner Bar in downtown Miami. Our drinks had arrived and my Old Fashioned had been mixed to perfection. As usual, it was a balmy night and the crowd at the bar was a diverse mix of Miami’s finest.

After I finished my first drink I was ready to light up my chosen cigar. Because the week had been so hectic I wanted a cigar that would offer up a sweet aromatic wrapper and a bold yet mild smoke. I had decided to try out the Acid Kuba Kuba Maduro. From the moment I took it from the cellophane wrapper the aroma was an enticing mix of floral and herbal smells. My friends were surprised that a cigar could have such an amazing smell.

I had to stop and savor the pleasant surprise of sweetness that lingered after I took my first draw. The first few draws after lighting this amazing cigar were a delight. The tobacco lit quickly and evenly and the smoke pulled smoothly without any effort. I ordered another Old Fashioned and settled in to enjoy what I was sure would be a wonderful treat.

The cigar burned perfectly as I caught up with my friends and every time I picked it up for another pull I had no problem getting a full draw no matter how long I had neglected it while lost in conversation. The flavors were hard to pin-point but the floral and herbal mix wasn’t over powering and I was very pleased with how well it paired with my drink.

As I made my way to the middle of the cigar and had become accustomed to the sweet and savory infusion I began to taste the rich and creamy Nicaraguan tobacco. I continued to be impressed with how perfectly the ash clung to the end as I puffed away and had to explain to my friends that this was one of the signs of a quality cigar when they asked why I had not yet made use of the ashtray.

The final portion of the cigar blossomed with an earthy and every so slight peppery flavor that balanced out the sweetness that I had been enjoying and as I came to the end of this truly amazing cigar I wished that I had brought another one to light right away.

My final thoughts as I discarded the nub and said good bye to my friends were that this cigar, with its infusion of herbs and botanicals, with its pristine construction and burn, with its bold yet mild smoke would surely be an all time favorite and would definitely have a home in my humidor. Drew Estate once again hit a home run with the Acid Kuba Kuba Maduro.
