Romeo 505 Nicaragua

Romeo y Julieta is one of the most acknowledged and adored brands in the cigar industry. Ever since its inception in the year 1875, the brand has garnered immense recognition among cigars aficionados. Romeo y Julieta cigars are known for their exotic flavor and aroma.

The brand went for a major revamping in 2012 when it introduced Romeo line of cigars. This line was created to cater to the needs of modern smokers that prefer stronger cigars. Romeo 505 Nicaragua is the third offshoot of the Romeo line. Romeo Anejo and Romeo by RyJ Aging Room were the first two releases.

Romeo 505 Nicaragua is a one-of-a-kind cigar made in Nicaragua solely from Nicaraguan tobaccos. It is a newfangled premium smoke that has taken the smoking industry by storm. It is a joint collaboration of Altadis U.S.A and renowned Plasencia cigar family.

The cigar dons a stylish, smooth, dark brown Cuban-seed wrapper. It is then packed in striking orange and black 20-count boxes. These smokes are equally good in appearance as much as they are in taste. Savor the rich flavors of coffee, leather, nuts, spice, and sweetness from the Nicaraguan tobacco.

History

Romeo y Julieta is a brand that has been serving a legion of cigar aficionados since 1875. The brand gets its name from the Spanish name of Shakespeare’s renowned tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. It is presently one of the most sought-after lines of cigars in the United States.

The  Reserva Real is a conventional cigar that is loved by all the old-school cigar smokers. It is milder in flavor and aroma. Similarly, the cigars that the brand supplied before 2012 were all mild. The company then decided to bring a new line of cigars titled Romeo, with an aim to deliver stronger cigars. Wherefore the Romeo line of cigars was crafted specifically for the modern-day smoker.

Romeo's first offshoot was Romeo Anejo. Later,  Romeo by Romeo y Julieta Aging Room was introduced which was  a collaboration of Altadis and Aging Room.

Finally, Romeo 505 Nicaragua was unveiled in July 2016. It is arguably the most flavorsome, spicy and strongest of its predecessors. The manufacturing is done by the Plasencia factory in Nicaragua which exclusively uses  Nicaraguan leaves. The intoxicating blend features Jalapa and Habano wrappers, and fillers from Jalapa, Condega, and Esteli.

Romeo 505 Nicaragua is also credited as the spiciest release of Romeo’s trilogy with the smokey flavor of black pepper and other spices. Currently, it is garnering a lot of appreciation among hard-core smokers thanks to its rich flavor and aroma.

Why is Romeo 505 Nicaragua one the hottest cigars of the year?

Romeo 505 Nicaragua smokes are crafted perfectly and the tobacco is made by a blend of leaves from various regions of Nicaragua. It boasts a unique flavor and aroma which is also stronger than all the other cigars manufactured by RyJ. Its rich, dense and intriguing flavors with woodsy aroma are a treat to your senses.

Romeo 505 Nicaragua is a premium cigar that won’t let you compromise on anything. Right from the packing to the filling, everything is flawless. The numeric value, 505 is the calling code of Nicaragua making the name ‘505 Nicaragua’ perfect for this blend.

The Romeo 505 Nicaragua box is adorned with black, orange and gold hues. The map of Nicaragua is printed on the right side while Nicaraguan 505 is embossed in a gold fold overlaying the map. Towards the left side, Romeo is written with black on an orange colored background.

The cigar comes with a dark brown hue Cuban-seed wrapper. It looks absolutely modish and it will surely strike your attention.

Flavor Profile

The Romeo 505 Nicaragua cigar is not just appealing in appearance, but it is even more addictive in terms of flavor. I tried this cigar for the first time and here is what I experienced:

As soon as I lit the cigar, the first flavor on my palate was earth and leather. It was very well complimented by a mixture of sweet and salty flavors and a lot of black pepper underneath which, to me, is an incredible start. I loved the smoky feel so I totally enjoyed it.

The blend of all the flavors together is quite fascinating and exceptional. After a while, the salty and sweet taste took over while the leather remained in the forefront. In between, pleasing floral notes along with a tinge of pepper spice danced on my palate.

On reaching the midway point, the sweet and salty flavor receded while leather pushed forward. The floral notes started striking my palate quite often while black pepper stayed tucked away.

Finally, towards the end, leathery notes overcame the floral notes. Then came my favorite aroma: a mesmerizing aroma of coffee bean and anise simply took my experience to the next level. I would say that I really liked the flavor and would love to enjoy it again and again.

Conclusion

Romeo 505 Nicaragua is one of the most exciting and strongest cigars of the Romeo line. Finally, Altadis has introduced something that is new and different. The Nicaraguan tobacco in the cigar delivers rich flavors of leather, earth with a moderate amount of spice, coffee, anise and light floral notes. The price of $10 to $12 for a stick is fair enough. Overall, this cigar with its unique flavor profile is worth a try.
