Oliva Serie V Melanio Cigars
The stunning follow-up to Oliva Serie ‘V’, the Oliva Serie ‘V’ Melanio is finally here.
These cigars are gifted with subtle nuances such as black pepper, freshly-baked bread and even, pure, unsweetened cocoa. You might also sense flavors of toasted and lightly creamed coffee, if you pay close attention to their creamy texture. They are packed with Oliva’s oldest and most prized leaves from Condega and Esteli.
The cigars are created with carefully-aged tobaccos from Jalapa, which produces a particularly flavored smoke. What further enhances the flavor of these full-bodied and smooth cigars is the Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra leaf wrapper that provides just the right amount of dark, thick, oily and ensures that the cigars are seamless in appearance.

There is no shortage of praise for Oliva Serie V Melanio from industry leaders and cigar lovers around the world. Oliva Serie V Melanio is undoubtedly one of the most popular cigars in the world and the creme de la creme of the Serie V cigar line.
It was conceived as a tribute to Melanio Oliva, the patriarch of Oliva Cigars Co.; a feat so well accomplished considering all the accolades it has garnered including the coveted Cigar of the Year award won in 2014.
A Little Insight
After the unprecedented success of Oliva Serie V, the Oliva Cigars team decided to release a cigar to honour the man who began it all.
Oliva Serie V Melanio debuted in 2012. It’s crafted using the same Oliva Serie V filler (Nicaraguan Jalapa Valley Habano) and binder (Nicaraguan) and finished in a shimmering Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper which is the same flawless leaf on the Nub Sumatra. Ultimately, Oliva Serie V Melanio is a highly acclaimed implicitly box-pressed, medium to full bodied smoke.
In 2013, the Maduro version of Oliva Serie V Melanio debuted sporting a rich, dark San Andres wrapper. Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro was the #7 Cigar of the Year 2021.
After all these years, Oliva Serie V Melanio and Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro are still impeccably consistent thanks to a few top notch torcidors at Tabacalera Oliva de Nicaragua S.A. (Tabilosa).
Tasting Notes

About Oliva Cigars Co.
Oliva Cigars Co. had its roots in the 1880s when Melanio Oliva began growing tobacco in the Pinar de Rio area in Cuba. After numerous challenges including a war and a revolution, the Oliva family finally settled in Nicaragua and began growing tobacco in earnest. But it wasn't until 1995 that Oliva Cigars became a registered company and released the first handmade Oliva cigar. Oliva Cigars Co. grew exponentially until its acquisition by Germany-based J. Cortes Cigars N.V. in 2016. J. Cortes Cigars N.V. is one of the largest makers of machine-made cigars in Europe. Thankfully, since its acquisition, the brand, quality, and consistency of Oliva cigars hasn’t changed one bit.
