Gotham Cigars is regularly active in giving back to the community and participating in charitable events. When the opportunity to participate in the 11th Annual Miami-Dade County Walk Now for Autism arose numerous Gotham Cigars employees jumped at the chance to participate.
The 11th Annual Miami-Dade County Walk Now for Autism Speaks gave residents in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area an opportunity to join the walk to help change the future of all of those who struggle with autism. The annual event offers its participants the opportunity to raise much-needed revenue to fund vital research that will lead to the answers needed to better understand this developmental disorder.
"The Miami-Dade County Walk Now for Autism Speaks is an annual event that we were very happy to have participated in this year," said Stephanie Sitko a Gotham Cigars Customer Service Representative. Ms. Sitko continued to say, "Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disorder in the country, and I am glad that Gotham Cigars sponsored a team of us to participate in this fund raiser."
February 27th celebrated the 11th anniversary of the Miami-Dade County Walk Now for Autism Speaks and saw $447,772 raised in donations to support the cause.

Gotham Cigars Launches Storefront Social on Facebook Likes Page

Gotham Cigars has become more active with its Social Media efforts in the 4th Quarter. Cigar smokers for the most part are a niche community. What better place to make products available than the Gotham Cigars Likes (Fan) Page on Facebook.
Gotham Cigars has recently implemented a data feed of their products through a tab labeled Storefront on their Facebook Likes Page. Now people within the Facebook cigar community can "Like" the Gotham Cigars page and shop the products right there.
"We are very excited about launching the Storefront on our Gotham Cigars Likes Page," said Gotham Cigars Ecommerce Marketing Manager Shelby Lowry. Mr. Lowry continued to say, "The Storefront will not only allow Facebook users who "Like" our page to shop our products but they will also be able to take advantage of special offers available for Facebook users."
The Storefront tab allows consumers to search by brand in the select category box or simply type in what they are looking for in the search box. The feed includes premium cigars, machine made cigars, humidors, and other cigar accessories available for purchase.

Gotham Cigars is regularly active in giving back to the community and participating in charitable events. When the opportunity to participate in the Susan G. Komen 5k Race for the Cure arose numerous Gotham Cigars employees jumped at the chance to participate.
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure gave residents in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area an opportunity to join the fight against breast cancer by running or walking a full or half 5k. The Race for the Cure offers its participants the opportunity to raise much-needed funds in support of Komen’s vision of a world without breast cancer.
“The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is an annual event that we have done for the last three years,” said Stephanie Sitko a Gotham Cigars Customer Service Representative. Mrs. Sitko continued to say, “Breast Cancer is becoming a growing epidemic in this country, and I am glad that Gotham Cigars sponsors a team of us annually to participate in this fund raiser.”
October 16th celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Komen Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Race for the Cure and saw over 21,000 participants mostly wearing pink. The goal this year was to raise about $3 million. With more participants this year it seems that that goal is with in reach.

Gotham Cigars Donates to Haitian Relief Fund

During these troubled times in Haiti one cigar company has been able to lend support to the devastated country. Gotham Cigars has been able to donate clothing and other essentials as well as obtaining a monetary match donation from Altadis U.S.A. Inc .
As the horrible effects of Haiti's massive earthquake where being reported by the media; many Americans and American based companies where scrambling to help in relief efforts to the shaken country.
"We were fortunate to have so many caring employees willing to donate blankets, clothing, and canned food.”, said Gotham Cigars President Manny Balani. Mr. Balani continued to say “It was a great gesture for the Montecristo Relief Organization to mach our monetary donation."
The monetary donations were sent to Food for the Poor a group already in Haiti providing immediate assistance to the victims of the devastating earthquake. Montecristo is a well known cigar brand that is manufactured and distributed by Altadis U.S.A. Inc.
The other portion of Gotham Cigars donation was delivered to COWS. COWS (Containers on Wheels) is a provider of mobile storage and moving services. A Plus Mini Storage provided six Miami locations where COWS could receive these donations for immediate distribution to the Red Cross.

Online Discount Cigar Company Gotham Cigars president set to play in The 6th Annual Wicho's On the Green Tournament to be held at Melreese Golf Course for the individuals and families touched by Autism Spectrum Disorders in the community.
Manny Balani Gotham Cigars' President will be playing in The 6th Annual Wicho's On the Green Tournament hosted by Linq Financial to give back to the community by raising money for these special needs children. Gotham Cigars will be participating as a sponsor to try and help surpass last years fundraising of over $50,000.
"Gotham Cigars is regularly involved in charitable events; we have been personally touched by the Autism Society Miami-Dade Chapter and their wonderful work in the community.", said Gotham Cigars President Manny Balani. Mr. Balani continued to say "We are fully committed in assisting Linq Financial in their fundraising efforts."
Last years beneficiaries included: Carpe Diem Academy, The Autism Society Miami-Dade Chapter, and UM-NSU Card. The beneficiaries were able to help over fifty families attend a Florida Marlins game as well as send some special needs children to Autism Surf Camp. Other portions of the donations where used to support the camp by providing lunch, drinks, and snacks to the children all week long.
The event was canceled on its original date of Friday December 18th 2009 due to rain but has been rescheduled to take place on Friday January 22nd 2010.
