Avo Uvezian: The legend, the creator.

AVO began with Avo Uvezian’s trip to Switzerland in 1983. He was traveling there to witness the christening of his daughter. During his trip, he had a Cuban cigar to accompany his dinner. He was extremely dissatisfied with the price which was $20.00 per cigar! Uvezian became more and more intrigued about the cigar industry especially cigar marketing. At this point, he started seriously considering creating his own brand. He realized that he wanted to make his own premium cigars for the world to enjoy. 

To create his outstanding high quality cigars he traveled to the Dominican Republic. He spent two years trying to find a production facility that fit his high standards. Everything changed and fell into place when he met Hendrik Kelner. Uvezian was introduced to Kelner by his friend in Geneva. Kelner had just opened his own cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. 

In 1987, Uvezian and Kelner’s partnership hit the market. Their cigars were originally sold under the Bolero label in San Juan and then as AVO in New York. A year later Uvezian launched AVO in the U.S. His cigars were revolutionary. AVO was introduced to the industry as a cigar that was ahead of its time. These cigars were a rave in the market with their full bodied smoke with Connecticut shade wrappers that ranged from claro to colorado. These cigars were packaged in artwork that was clean, original and contemporary. When creating a fresh new brand Uvezian refused to settle for an average cigar. He was dedicated to ensuring that AVO Cigars would be the absolute best. In the first year, AVO sold 120,000 cigars. By the third year over 750,00 were sold.

AVO Syncro Ritmo

The AVO Syncro line of cigars is one of Uvezian's biggest successes. The entire line made up of AVO Syncro Nicaraguan, AVO Syncro Fogata, and AVO Syncro Ritmo is a huge success. In fact, AVO Syncro Nicaragua and AVO Syncro Fogata garnered 90+ ratings long before the legendary AVO Syncro Ritmo came along.

Now, AVO Syncro Ritmo is arguably the most delicious and successful of all the AVO Syncro cigars. It features a multi-national blend consisting of tobacco from 7 countries! Not to mention the fact that it is the first box-pressed stogie to be rolled at the Davidoff Oettinger factory in Dominican Republic.

AVO Syncro Ritmo encases exquisite fillers from Nicaragua, Peru, Brazil, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. The binder is a flawless Mexican leaf complimented by a meticulous Ecuadorian wrapper. This obviously sophisticated cigar gives off refreshing citrus notes accompanied by woody, earthy tones, a ton of chocolate and mocha nuances, and shy peppery spice tang.

AVO No. 2

Each AVO No.2 is formed from a carefully selected variety of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic. The tobaccos used are aged for 25 years.
