CAO Amazon Basin is the rarest CAO cigar, and perhaps one of the best. The blend is part of the acclaimed CAO Brazilia line of cigars which feature rich tobaccos from Brazil. The Amazon Basin blend goes even further and utilizes a super rare Braganca tobacco grown in the rich soils of the Amazon rainforest which is only harvested once every three years. Once harvested, the Braganca tobaccos are then hand rolled and placed in wooden tubes to allow to ferment for six months. Once the fermentation is complete, the tobacco is sent by boat down the Amazon river where it is sent to the CAO factory in Nicaragua to be blended with Colombian and Dominican tobaccos. The finishing touch is a dark Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf wrapper. The finished sticks are then tied with tobacco that mimics rope. Only 6,000 boxes were made for the American market.
