Tasting Notes

Romeo Y Julieta Nicaragua

Tasting Notes

Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua is a meticulous concoction of flavor and complexity. From the construction of this bad boy to the taste and feel of it; this cigar is undeniably superior. Right from the start, you can taste the attention-grabbing spicy kick of the Nicaraguan tobacco. Underneath, notes of sweet cream, cocoa, cedar, and a touch of toasted nuts dance on the palate. You will love the long, savory toasty finish and baking spice retrohale.

As your cigar settles, most of the punchy spice and pepper notes dissipate leaving a sumptuous winding cedar and premium tobacco savor. This cigar is very gentle in the way it transitions. The middle is this luxurious ‚Äúlove story‚Äù that cascades with an enchanting rich taste. In the final third, all the zing of the first third returns; albeit subtly. This last third is somewhat of a marriage of all the flavors exhibited in the smoke. You would think some of the flavours would not work well together but boy!

In truth, I did not want to put my nub down. The last few draws brought together the classic Cuban flavor profile with an exquisitely decadent spice and pepper zing. That is until I started smelling burning flesh ‚Äì kidding.
Strength came up to a medium at best. But the body came full circle. Turning to the burn, well, this cigar had some minor issues. The burn line was not razor-sharp, but I never had to retouch it. So, it worried me from time to time but pulled through in the end.

Who is the ideal consumer for Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua?

Romeo y Julieta NicaraguaHonestly, I think this cigar is perfect for any cigar smoker whether a novice or connoisseur. Why? Because even though it feels like a stronger cigar towards the nub, the strength versus flavor ratio is masterfully balanced.
Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua appeals to the aficionado who loves an aristocratic smoke with a quintessential Cuban aura. The strength, as well as flavor transitions, make this smoke a delicious treat.

Similarly, a beginner will love that Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua is not overwhelming in any way. It is a complex smoke that will perk up your palate and introduce you to a premium taste. But it’s also approachable enough and will not knock your lights out.

Is Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua Popular?

As earlier stated, this cigar came out in 2018. For this reason, it has ways to go.That being said, this is a delicious cigar, as evidenced by the 90+ ratings from renowned cigar reviewers. Cigars International gave this bad boy a 90 Rating while Blind Man Puff gave it a 91 rating.

Granted, this stogie is not yet at its height of success. But this is because it is still relatively new. Typically, new cigars take a while to fully engrain into the cigar market. With a bit more time, Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua will be as famous as all the other Romeo y Julieta cigars.

Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua Pricing

Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua is unbelievably affordable. Typically, you would get this stick for between $6 and $8 depending on the size. For this reason, this can easily and painlessly become an everyday cigar for you. Also, if you keep your eyes peeled, you will happen upon awesome deals that can stock your humidor for next to nothing.

How is Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua Different from the Dominican Romeo y Julieta 1875?

Both of these cigars are close cousins. Some people may even go as far as to say the difference is only in the factory locations where they are rolled. Perhaps there is some truth to that. But in my experience, both cigars give a unique standalone experience. The Dominican Romeo y Julieta is every bit as Cuban as it was when it was rolled in Cuba. Moreover, this bad boy has experienced tremendous success over the years. In fact, the Dominican Romeo y Julieta is still among the most purchased cigars in the U.S.A.

Romeo y Julieta Nicaragua got the much-needed modern twist from the Plasencia Family. In doing so, this stogie cultivated its own flavor profile featuring the classic Cuban base. In my opinion, the new flavour came with a whole new demographic of modern smokers.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, whether or not the Nicaraguan Romeo y Julieta will become as popular as the Dominican version remains to be seen. Meanwhile, all it is a delightful smoke at an awesome price point. There will never be a better time to buy. Please share your thoughts and experiences. We are always delighted to hear from you.
