The Playboy by Don Diego was unveiled in 1996 by Altadis USA. Playboy, the quintessential American adult magazine, chose Don Diego as its partner in smoking. Decades later, the Playboy range of Don Diego cigars continues to enthrall cigar aficionados across the country. These cigars are available in limited numbers.
Don Diego’s Playboy line recently had a makeover. Instead of the original Dominican tobacco, the filler is now a blend of high-quality tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru. The original binder has been replaced by a Connecticut shade-grown binder. And lastly, the wrapper is now an exquisite Ecuadorian Sumatra tobacco leaf.
These thoughtful changes have resulted in a much stronger smoke than the earlier version. The new Playboy by Don Diego cigars offer a mild to medium-bodied smoke endowed with an earthiness and spiciness. You will also taste sweet undertones, apart from the central, woodsy flavoring.
The range comprises four variants—Gran Corona, Double Corona, Lonsdale and Robusto. While the Gran Corona is 6¾ inches in length and has a medium ring gauge of 48, the Double Corona has a length of 6 inches and a ring gauge of 52. The Lonsdale, on the other hand, has a ring size of 42 and a length of 6.62 inches. Being a brand endorsed by Playboy, the packaging features a sleek Play Bunny logo complete with Hugh Heffner's monogram. The tight packaging ensures that each cigar retains its freshness for prolonged periods of time.
